Sulphate is a constituent of TDS and may form salts with sodium, potassium, magnesium and other cations. Sulphate (so₄^-2) is widely distributed in nature and may be present in natural waters at concentrations ranging from a few to several hundred milligrams per litre. Sulphate can cause scale build-up in water pipes. Sulphates are also food for the Anaerobic slime formers the sulphate reducing bacteria which are responsible for pitting type of corrosion in pipes.The AQUASOL water test kit for sulphate is based on titrimetry and is extremely user friendly.
Sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) are those bacteria that can obtain energy by oxidizing organic compounds or molecular hydrogen while reducing sulfate to hydrogen sulfide. They are also know as sulfide generating bacteria (SGB) and commonly found in anaerobic environments where they aid in the degradation of organic materials like secondary oil recovery effluents, estuarine waters, deep wells, cooling waters, metalworking fluids, water-based hydraulic fluids, and petroleum based products. They can survive up to 600C & cause pitting corrosion on metal structures that are exposed to sulfate-containing water by cathodic depolarization. They also play a role in the anaerobic oxidation of methane below the seabed in the transition zone which leads to heavy production loss. Since sulfate is also found in some formulations of or the other used in water treatment, viz, corrosion inhibitors, coolants, etc. Sulfate acts as a hydrogen acceptor produces hydrogen sulfide and ferrous sulfide. These together form a malodorous black slime. In some case bubbles of H2S rise though the water and cause objectionable odors. The corrosion of iron by sulfate reducing bacteria is rapid and unlike ordinary rusting, is not self – limiting. Our specially developed test kit with a unique 10ml sample size gives a much detailed quantitative analysis of the SRB count in a sample. Nitrate Test Kit are inorganic salts that occur as a natural or manmade contaminants in drinking water. Sulphite is not usually present in surface waters. If sulphite is discharged in effluents or from domestic wastewaters, it readily oxidizes to sulphate. Sodium sulphite, the most common form of sulphite is an excellent reducing agent and is commonly used as an oxygen scavenger to control corrosion. Sulphite concentrations in boiler and process waters must be monitored regularly to protect the systems. Our sulphite test kit works when sulphite in salt form has been added to waters. It is a titration method, easy to use and easy to read.

Silica (sio2) is an oxide of silicon, and is present in almost all minerals. It is found in surface and well water. Silica is a problem for high pressure boilers, as it exhibits enough volatility that high pressure boilers will have silica carry over to the vapour partition. When the steam pressure is reduced in turbines, silica will precipitate on the blades as a glassy deposit, which reduces efficiency. Measuring silica in water is useful to monitor demineralizer for boiler water treatment. The silica water test is available as 4 different products in very low and very high ranges.

Zinc is introduced into water naturally by erosion of minerals from rocks and soil, most zinc is introduced into water by artificial pathways such as by-products of steel production coal-fired power stations, or from the burning of waste materials. Manganese Test Kit

Manganese is a mineral that naturally occurs in rocks /soil and it is found in iron-bearing waters but is more rare than iron. When manganese is present in water, it produces extremely objectionable stains on everything with which it comes in contact & deposits collect in pipelines, tap water containing black sediment and turbidity due to precipitated manganese. When fabrics are washed in manganese-bearing water, dark brown or black stains are formed due to the oxidation of the manganese. The International Drinking Water Regulations recommend a limit of 0.05 mg/l manganese & industrial purposes the manganese content should not exceed 0.01 to 0.02 mg/l. Nitrite Test Kit

Nitrites occur in water as an intermediate product in the biological breakdown of organic nitrogen, being produced either through the oxidation of ammonia or the reduction of nitrate. The presence of large quantities of nitrites is indicative of waste water pollution. Low range nitrite estimation is useful for drinking water analysis. Turbidity is a principal physical characteristic of water. It is caused by suspended matter or impurities that interfere with the clarity of the water. These include clay, silt, finely divided inorganic and organic matter, soluble coloured organic compounds, and plankton and other microscopic organisms. Turbidity is the measure of relative clarity of a liquid. Clarity is required for drinking water and in manufacturing uses. This AQUASOL water turbidity test kit is simple and adequate. It has been designed for “onsite “use. It suffices its purpose and helps regular monitoring.

Specifications:

Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) is defined as the amount of a specific oxidant that reacts with the sample under controlled conditions. The quantities of oxidant consumed is expressed in terms of its oxygen equivalence.
Because of Dichromate ions specific oxidant properties, (CrO72-) unique chemical properties it gets reduced to the chromic ion (Cr3+) in COD test.
COD is a defined test, the extent of sample oxidation can be affected by digestion time, reagent strength & sample COD concentration.
COD is often used on a measurement of pollutants in waste water & natural water.
To determine COD two methods are useful, the open reflux method is suitable for a wide range of waste water & large sample size is preferred. Another is the closed reflux method is suitable for smaller quantities. It requires homogenisation of sample. Accurate measurement of sample values as well as reagent volumes and concentration are critical.

 

Principle

Most type of organic matter are oxidised by a boiling mixture of Chromic & Sulphuric acid. A sample is heated in strongly acid solution with known excess of potassium dichromate.
After digestion, the remaining unreduced dichromate is titrated with Ferrous Ammonium Sulphate to determine the amount of dichromate consumed and the oxidized matter is calculated in terms of oxygen equivalent.

Closed result method is used for AQUASOL COD test kit. This kit is applicable to COD values between 40 to 400 mg/l. Obtained high values by dilution.

Chromate is used to inhibit corrosion in open and closed system cooling towers. Hydrazine Test Kit is used as an oxygen scavenger for high pressure boilers in power plants and other industries to reduce corrosion of metal pipes and fittings. Iron Test Kit is a naturally occurring mineral found in water especially groundwater which has come in contact with iron-containing rock or soil. Tannin is a natural organic material that is the by product of nature’s fermentation process, created as water passes through peaty soil and decaying vegetation. Tannins create a light yellow to dark brown discoloration of the water, and cause yellow staining on fabrics, fixtures, and laundry. Tannin based formulations are used for prevention of scale and corrosion in steam boilers, closed cooling systems and steam locomotives.
